Video Sessions
FAQ’s about ReRoot Online
What do I need to do video sessions?
Any device with an internet connection, microphone and camera will work. You will receive a link that you will click on at your session time. The link may prompt you to download an app. You should think about a space that is quiet and that you won’t be interrupted.
How long are video session?
Video sessions can be a quick check-in at 25 minutes or a full session at 50 minutes. This will depend on the purpose and goal of the session.
Isn’t it better to be in person?
Not exactly. Some people prefer in person sessions (awesome! I can offer that as well), however increasing the accessibility to session, having space that you are comfortable, as well as the comfort that can happen with a bit of distance (check out online disinhibition effect if you’d like,) all are benefits to online sessions.
Can I mix online sessions with in person sessions?
Absolutely! This is a great way to combine the benefits of experiential modalities with the benefits and ease of virtual therapy. If your go-to is in-person therapy, but you are sick, don’t have childcare, or your car breaks down you’ll still have access to support. Also video sessions tend to be easier to schedule outside of your typical appointment time if you need extra support.
Can kids use video sessions?
It depends on the kid and the modality that works best for them. Not every kid is ready to sit and talk to a screen for that long. Some older kids find it very helpful as an in-between sessions check-in. Video sessions can be a great option for parent coaching!
